What is Visionary Fiction?

Visionary Fiction embraces spiritual and esoteric wisdom, often from ancient sources, and makes it relevant for our modern life. These gems of wisdom are brought forth in story form and in a way that readers can experience the wisdom from within themselves. It emphasizes and envisions humanity’s transition into evolved consciousness. While there is a strong theme, it in no way proselytizes or preaches.

Visionary is a tone as well as a genre. The ‘visionary’ element can technically be present in any genre and set in any time.

Characteristics of Visionary Fiction:

  • Growth of consciousness is the central theme of the story and drives the protagonist, and/or other important characters.
  • Oftentimes VF uses reincarnation, dreams, visions, paranormal, psychic abilities, and other metaphysical plot devices.
  • VF is universal in its worldview and scope.

In short, the emphasis is on our limitless human potential, where transformation and evolution are entirely possible.

“Visionary Fiction speaks the language of the soul. It offers a vision of humanity as we dream it could be.” ~ Jodine Turner

What is the Visionary Fiction Alliance?

final-logoThe Visionary Fiction Alliance began as a web-ring. Three authors of visionary novels, Jodine Turner, Saleena Karim, and Shannan Sinclair met at the  Goodreads Visionary Fiction Group in March 2012 and decided to link up to each other’s blogs as a way of promoting each other and visionary fiction itself.

Other writers joined the conversation and asked to be part of the ring; and soon there were twelve authors, who decided to create a space where they could work together to promote VF.  And so, the Visionary Fiction Alliance was born, with this site going live on August 17, 2012. Since then many other authors, from seasoned veterans to developing novices, have joined our ranks.

As the world evolves away from the Newtonian model of the five senses to the more evolved quantum model that includes the sense of spirit so resurgent today, Visionary Fiction is rapidly becoming the genre of choice to express that evolution and predict the breath-taking future that might follow the anticipated leaps. Under its broader umbrella are now gathering works previously classified as spiritual, metaphysical, or science fiction. The VFA aims to provide a home base and central clearing house for readers, writers, and researchers dedicated to this endeavor.

Our purposes are to:

1. Increase awareness of the genre

2. Help readers discover, explore, and enjoy Visionary Fiction

3. Mentor new writers who wish to explore this genre

4. Provide resources for writers of Visionary Fiction

5. Be a place where readers can find Visionary Fiction books and engage in discussion with the authors.

I have studied the Torah and Talmud my entire life.
