Video Interview – W. Bradford Swift on The Fringe Candidate

Brad Swift (aka W. Bradford Swift and Orrin Jason Bradford) sold his veterinary practice in 1989 to pursue a dream to be an author and personal development coach. He and his wife were co-founders of the Life On Purpose Institute during which Swift wrote the Life On Purpose series that includes the award-nominated Life on Purpose: Six Passages to an Inspired Life. In the YA category, he is the author of the Zak Bates Eco-Adventure series for animal lovers of all ages, and the Amberlin series. Under his pen name of Orrin Jason Bradford, he’s written the six-volume FreeForm SF thriller series and others. Most recently he has been drawn to writing (and reading) visionary fiction including his latest, Babble (book one of the Cosmic Conspiracy series), and The Fringe Candidate, his most visionary fiction story to date.

Swift became an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction as an eleven-year-old boy when his next-door neighbor, a children’s librarian, took pity on his single-parent mom. Bored out of his gourd with no one to play with but good ‘ol mom, he drove her crazy until Mrs. Crabtree brought home a stack of books she knew would hook a young boy’s imagination. It worked. Swift has been hooked ever since.

Swift lives in the “Paradise Found” of the North Carolina mountains.

  1. Thanks for this, Brad, and I was also able to participate in your book launch last Sat. via Zoom. Great to have your vision and experience in our group. I will be very interested in how The Fringe Candidate plays in Peoria, as they say. Keep us posted.

And thanks, Cynthia, for breaking some ground with a sample interview on our site.

  2. I love the excerpt from this book~brilliantly accomplished! I am hooked!!! Can’t wait to share this with my friends and family. So welcome at this time in our political climate!

  3. I’m about halfway through recording the audiobook. When Brad first approached me, I thought, “yeah, sure, why not.” After I actually read through it though, it became “This is exactly the kind of project I want to do.” I had never heard the term “visionary fiction” before, but it is precisely the reason why I love narrating audiobooks & I try my best to select books that have the same kind of spirit to narrate. As I’m actually narrating it & being the voice of Brasten Grammerly, I’m surprised at just how transformational this book is. Brad called me yesterday morning to say that my performance had him in tears. I was flattered. Last night while I was recording, His writing almost had me there too. Thank you so much, Brad!
