Beyond Omega’s Sunrise by Eleni Papanou
Something has gone wrong with the sun. Its energy output has increased leaving half the world destroyed. By the next sunrise, the East Coast of the United Republic, along with the remaining areas of the globe exposed to sunlight will perish.
Description
Something has gone wrong with the sun. Its energy output has increased leaving half the world destroyed. By the next sunrise, the East Coast of the United Republic, along with the remaining areas of the globe exposed to sunlight will perish.
In the last few desperate hours of humanity’s reign upon the Earth, an author tries to help a frightened boy find his mother; a fanatical entrepreneur tries to escape Earth with his spiritual guru; a soldier deals with his mother and her mental health issues while escorting a frightened woman home; twins who haven’t spoken in ten years try to make amends, and a documentarian can’t get home to his wife and child because they’re on the West Coast and have already met their demise. He spends his last night with his ex-wife, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and sees the end of the world as a relief.
Linking these individuals together is a shuttle crash that happened ten years prior and ties into their fates that will once again collide after the next Sunrise.
