Esme Ellis

We are sad to announce that one of our members, Esme Ellis, has passed away. Esme has been with us since the start of the VFA.  She has written four books; Pathway Into Sunrise, Clea and the Fifth DimensionThis Strange and Precious Thing, and Dreaming Worlds Awake.

Esme Ellis started out life as a visual artist.  At age 11, she earned scholarships to the junior art department of the Sheffield College of Art and the senior art college at 14. At 17,  sculpture and ceramics became her preferred focus of study. She won another scholarship to The Royal College of Art in London. She spent a year in Rome working on her studies and visiting many museums and galleries.

After having moved to Bath in 1975, she headed spiritual and meditation awareness meetings in her home.  She also expressed herself with painting and writing. Her journey to becoming a writer was an organic process and almost reads like a visionary fiction story:

“After virtually forty years of training and practising the art of sculpture, my life took a surprising new course. It is said that a Shaman must endure some physical calamity – a fall from a high rock face, breaking every bone in their body – be taken apart and reassembled again – before discovering their true power. The same could be said of a writer. From the most earthy, hands-on, three dimensional form of creative expression, sculpture, I was led through a devastating illness to a miraculous healing. And from that, to the discovery that I was indeed a writer.”

Esme was a unique being who offered the world her personal pearls of wisdom. Author, Pat Perrin, in her review of Esme’s  “Dreaming Worlds Awake” said that “in poetry and various prose styles, Esme Ellis describes dreams, synchronicities, channelled entities, and everyday life. She treats them evenly, finding something to learn of all of them.”

When we consider Esme’s experience as author, artist and spiritual teacher, we wouldn’t be a visionary fiction site if we didn’t share her understanding of reincarnation and the hereafter. From one of her posts here at the VFA, she revealed that “We are born over and again, learning lessons every time. Some of those lessons have taken us to some very dark places indeed, but there has always been a chance for us to learn from that until we eventually stop repeating our failures. Finally, I believe we attain the state of Ascended Masters who don’t return back to Earth, but even before that time we are able to serve as teachers to those who still remain on Earth.”

This is how I like to envision Esme Ellis…an Ascended Master looking down at us and showering us all with the lessons that she learned throughout her life.

Love and light, Esme. We won’t forget you.

Please feel free to share a memory of Esme.

  1. Thank you, Eleni, for honoring Esme and showing us the creative accomplishments of her life. I met Esme online years ago, through a women’s writer’s website. We connected and kept in touch. She was with the VFA from the beginning. Esme was, and still is, a wonderful contributor to the genre of Visionary Fiction.

  2. Esme was an active member and frequent visitor here. I remember speaking to her at this site some time ago in response to an article she had contributed, and found her to be a lovely creative personality. Thanks Eleni for writing this touching commemorative piece.

  3. Thank you, Eleni, for this heartfelt tribute to our dear friend and visionary comrade in arms, Esme Ellis. I never met Esme in person but had several email exchanges over the years and edited a couple of her posts for publication on this site. It is good for the VFA to have a member in residence on “the other side,” where the view, I understand, is wider and clearer. And Esme, I expect, will have no problem keeping in touch
